What is Gelato?

Villa Dolce prepares fresh gelato daily on the premises. Gelato is Italy's version of ice cream with a few differences. Gelato has less butter fat than ice cream. Less fat doesn't mean less flavor. Since gelato is served slightly warmer than ice cream you taste the full flavor of the gelato immediately. Gelato has a much higher density than ice cream. Ice cream manufacturers add air to ice cream to almost double their product. No air is added when making gelato resulting in a higher quality dessert which is richer and creamier.
